The Big Girl Bed Quilt

I've got our baby's big girl bed quilt on the frame and I'm working away at getting it quilted.  I started with some free motion daisies in the mauve border, I forgot to take a picture before I advanced the quilt.  I decided just to stipple the middle, however, I already think that I have made it a little too dense.  We'll see how it looks when it is done and off the frame.

Thought I would share a few photos of what my setup looks like.  Please don't mind the mess!  I picked up the prints at my favourite store back home, The Country Quilter, when I was there for a visit last March.  I had a hard time finding the backing.   I found the mauve border first and thought I had calculated enough for the backing also.  I really get upset with myself when I make mistakes like that!  Instead I picked up the mauve dots and think they will work out ok.

I've got my Janome Horizon (bought with the large throat size specifically) set up on an Inspira frame.  I'm still getting the hang of working with the two together so end up frustrated some days.  You can see a string line down the middle strip of prints, that's my sewing limit based on the throat size.  I don't like getting to my outer limits while stippling and ending up with a perfectly straight line where I intended there to be a curve, it stands out pretty badly.

You can see the extension cord hanging from the ceiling in this photo, I've done this so that there is less drag on my machine when I get near the ends of the frame.  The red shoelace is holding up the cord for the Grace attachment for hand controls: start, stop, and variable speed.  I've also got a second extension cord (on the right below the rear handles) that is powering the little desk lamp clamped on the other side of my machine.  You can see the one overhead fluorescent that I have and my husband has since added a second for me.  The lighting isn't terrific in the basement but the frame won't fit in the dining room!  I have my sewing maching table set up in the dining room and do all of my piecing up there, the quilting is done in the basement.
